Last weekend we spent a beautiful day in Northern Italy. We visited the medieval town of Todi and then traveled to an agricultural town in Orvietto where we partook of a thirteen course dinner. It was so nice to get out and into the country, before returning to the fast pace of Roma. I could almost imagine the place as it was hundreds of years ago...with the horse drawn carriages and the townspeople going to mass and getting their proscuitto and cheese for the week. It was great to be able to meet and get to know  my fellow classmates in a relaxed atmosphere. Here's to Todi and the beautiful city of Roma!

First week in Roma...

I love Roma!

The first week in Roma has been magical! The air of this place lets off the alluring aroma of history, classical beauty, and great food. I promise I will get better with retracing my steps during the days, but this week has been overwhelming with the stuff we were discovering and all the activities packed into the days... It is definitely true what they say about 1000 years in Rome not being enough. I feel like I could spend a lifetime here and still will not be able to grasp the richness of the culture and the stories buried within the architecture.
Later today I will post our adventure to Todi, a medieval hill town, and our 13 course meal in Orvietto. But for now I am off to buy some groceries and to head to my first day of class. Ciao!

mi madre es muy bonita!

happy happy happy mother's day to all the mothers!
I would especially like to recognize my mom who is the most beautiful woman that I know.
She is a lover of Bruce Springsteen, spaghetti, has an amazing sense of style and a knack for shopping
for that style, loves the sun, is an amazing nurse, is a lover of going out for breakfast, wine and beer, and antiquing. She is a wicked cook, who can throw together the most tasty and healthy of meals.
is a wonderful mother who gives so much of herself. In honor of our mother today my whole family is getting together for lunch this afternoon...so I will be traveling once again back to the L-Caster.
Cheerio!

suebeelicious

This post is a dedication to my beautiful friend sue bee... isn't she absolutely gorgeous? I met her almost 3 years ago in a program called YWAM where we were together in california for 6 months. She is from Switzerland and since leaving each other we have only been able to correspond through email and letter.
She is amazing, she has such a beautiful heart for God and others. She is so creative and passionate, and is so great at whatever she puts her hand to. I love and miss her like crazy!

naked bliss...

the roomies
(please excuse my ugliness)
all of the beautiful girls!

Naked CHOCOLATE that is...on tuesday it was girls night. Red lipstick, dressing up, and naked chocolate cafe goodness! The naked Chocolate cafe is one of our favorite spots in Philly, one that we frequent maybe too often. Corliss' birthday was on Tuesday, so we were able to escape the academic rigor of school and slip away to fulfill our sweet cravings. I indulged in their caramel hot chocolate AND a huge PB cookie (can we say fatty) we all let loose with peanutbutter milkshakes, iced chocolates, bread pudding, and the list goes on and on. Fun night, beautiful girls, and chocolate.

Kelly Drive, Two

alrighty so I am down to the last couple of months in Philly before moving on to summer and eventually Italy. My goal is to make them the best months I possibly can. I have slacked a little on school work and I am bound and determined to get in shape. My time is now. To help with this I have been running on Kelly drive 5 miles a day. I would love to lose a little weight and maintain focus for the end of the semester. With the beautiful weather it is easy to get distracted, but with four big tests left, two papers, and many large art projects left I do not want to get ahead of myself. Time to get down to business!
